INSTALLATION

Download and Install Java Documents

  1. Create the download directory if you haven't already:

    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Click File | New | Folder.
    4. Change New Folder in the box to Downloads then press the Enter key.
    5. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.
  2. Download the Java SE Version 1.6.0 documents archive file:

    1. Scroll to Java SE 6 Documentation.
    2. Click Download to the right of Java SE 6 Documentation.
    3. Click Accept License Agreement.
    4. Click Java SE 6 Documentation to the left of jdk-6u10-docs.zip.
    5. Click Save in the File Download dialog then click OK.
    6. Verify that jdk-6u10-docs.zip appears in the File Name field in the Save As dialog.
    7. Click Up One Level until the Local Disk (C:) drive appears in the Save In field.
    8. Double click the Downloads directory.
    9. Click Save.
    10. Wait until the download completes (this may take several hours depending on the speed of your internet connection).
    11. Click Close in the Download Complete dialog.
    12. Click Close in the top right corner of the browser window.
  3. Verify that the Java SE Version 1.6.0 documents archive file was downloaded correctly:

    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Double click the Downloads directory.
    4. Right click the jdk-6u10-docs.zip executable file then click Properties in the popup menu.
    5. Verify that 58,890,428 bytes appears in the Size field in the Properties dialog.
    6. Click X in the top right corner of the Properties dialog.
    7. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.
  4. Install the Java SE Version 1.6.0 documents archive file later (when you get to Install Java Archive Files).
