Compile and Execute Input Demo Application

Note: This page describes how to enter arguments on the command line for the Input Demo Application. It also describes how to enter arguments when prompted by the Input Demo Application.
  1. Compile Input Demo Application Java File:

    1. Click the Java File box in the Java Tools window then click InputDemo.java in the popup list.
    2. Click Tools | Compile.
    3. Click OK in the Information dialog when the compile completes.

  2. Execute Input Demo Application Class File with Arguments entered in Arguments Dialog:

    1. Click Tools | Arguments in the Java Tools window.
    2. Type Hello World! in the Input dialog then click OK.
    3. Click Tools | Execute | Class File.
    4. Wait until the following output appears in the Execute window:
      arguments[0]=Hello
      arguments[1]=World!
    5. Click X in the top right corner of the Execute window.

  3. Execute Input Demo Application Class File with Arguments entered in Execute Window:

    1. Click Tools | Arguments in the Java Tools window.
    2. Click Cancel in the Input dialog.
    3. Click Tools | Execute | Class File.
    4. Wait until Type arguments and press Enter key appears in the Execute window.
    5. Click the Enter field at the bottom of the Execute window then type Goodbye Universe! and press the Enter key.
    6. Wait until the following output appears in the Execute window:
      arguments[0]=Goodbye
      arguments[1]=Universe!
    7. Click the Enter field again then press the up arrow and down arrow keys.
    8. Watch the arguments entered above appear in the Enter field.
    9. Click X in the top right corner of the Execute window.
