INSTALLATION

Download and Install J2EE Tools

  1. Create the download directory if you haven't already:

    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Click File | New | Folder.
    4. Change New Folder in the box to Downloads then press the Enter key.
    5. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.

  2. Download the Install J2EE Tools archive file:

    2. Verify that InstallJ2EETools0.31.jar appears in the Name field in the File Download dialog.
    3. Click Save.
    4. Click Up One Level until the Local Disk (C:) drive appears in the Save in field in the Save As dialog.
    5. Double click the Downloads directory.
    6. Click Save.
    7. Click Yes in the second Save As dialog if you're replacing the file.
    8. Wait until the download completes (this may take several minutes).
    9. Click Close in the Download Complete dialog.

  3. Verify that the Install J2EE Tools archive file was downloaded correctly:

    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Double click the Downloads directory.
    4. Right click the InstallJ2EETools0.31.jar archive file then click Properties in the popup menu.
    5. Verify that 387,329 bytes appears in the Size field in the Properties dialog.
    6. Click X in the top right corner of the Properties dialog.
    7. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.

  4. Install the Install J2EE Tools archive file:
    Note: You can install a new or updated version of J2EE Tools without uninstalling the old one first (steps 18 through 22 below). Also, you should change the environment settings by reinstalling J2EE Tools to ensure that the settings are changed everywhere. Finally, if you have any problems with the steps below, see Troubleshooting Problems for help.
    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Double click the Downloads directory.
    4. Double click the InstallJ2EETools0.31.jar file.
    5. Wait until the Install J2EE Tools window appears.
    6. Click the J2EE Version box in the Install J2EE Tools window then click 1.4 in the popup list.
    7. Click the SJSAS Version box then click 8.2 in the popup list (default).
    8. Click the Java Home Directory box then click C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0 in the popup list (default).
    9. Click the J2EE Home Directory box then click C:\Sun\AppServer (default).
    10. Click the Ant Home Directory box then type C:\Sun\AppServer (default).
    11. Click the Download Home Directory box then click C:\Downloads (default).
    12. Click the Installation Directory box then click C:\fieldbird (default).
    13. Click the Administration Host box then click localhost (default).
    14. Click the Administration User box then click admin (default).
    15. Click the Administration Password box then click admin123 (default).
    16. Click the Administration Group box then click asadmin (default).
    17. Click the Database Port box then click 1527 (default).
    18. Click File | Uninstall.
    19. Click Yes in the Confirm dialog to uninstall J2EE Tools.
    20. If asked, click Yes in the Confirm dialog to delete all files or No to save them.
    21. Wait until the uninstall completes.
    22. Click OK in the Information dialog when the uninstall completes.
    23. Click File | Install.
    24. Click Yes in the Confirm dialog to install J2EE Tools.
    25. Wait until the install completes.
    26. Click OK in the Information dialog when the install completes.
    27. Click X in the top right corner of the Install J2EE Tools window.
    28. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.
