INSTALLATION

Download and Install Android Software Development Kit

  1. Create the download directory if it doesn't exist:

    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Click File | New | Folder.
    4. Change New Folder in the box to Downloads then press the Enter key.
    5. Click File | New | Folder.
    6. Change New Folder in the box to android then press the Enter key.
    7. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.
  2. Download the Android Software Development Kit archive file:

    1. Scroll to Other Download Options.
    2. Click tools_r25.2.3-windows.zip in the table under SDK Tools Only.
    3. Click Save in the File Download dialog.
    4. Verify that Downloads appears in the Save in field in the Save As dialog.
    5. Verify that tools_r25.2.3-windows.zip appears in the File name field then click Save.
    6. Wait until the download completes (this may take several minutes depending on the speed of your internet connection).
    7. Click Close in the Download complete dialog.
  3. Verify that Android Software Development Kit archive file was downloaded correctly:

    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Double click the Downloads directory.
    4. Right click the tools_r25.2.3-windows.zip archive file then click Properties in the popup menu.
    5. Verify that 306,745,639 bytes appears in the Size field in the Properties dialog.
    6. Click X in the top right corner of the Properties dialog.
    7. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.
  4. Extract the Android Software Development Kit archive file:

    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Double click the Downloads directory.
    4. Right click the tools_r25.2.3-windows.zip archive file then click Extract files in the popup menu.
    5. Change C:\Downloads\tools_r25.2.3-windows\ in the Extract to field in the Extract dialog to C:\android then click OK.
    6. Wait until the extract completes.
    7. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.
  5. Install the Android Software Development Kit archive file:

    1. Click Start | My Computer on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Double click the Local Disk (C:) drive in the My Computer window.
    3. Double click android.
    4. Double click tools.
    5. Double click android.bat.
    6. Wait until the Choose Packages to Install dialog appears (this may take several minutes).
    7. Click Cancel in the Choose Packages to Install dialog.
    8. Verify the box to the right of Show for Updates/New is clicked in the Android SDK Manager dialog.
    9. Verify the box to the right of Show for Installed is clicked.
    10. Verify the box to the right of Sort by for API level is clicked.
    11. Click Deslect All.
    12. Click the box under Tools for Android SDK Tools, Revision 25.2.5 (required).
    13. Click the box under Tools for Android SDK Platform-tools, Revision 25.0.3 (required).
    14. Click the box under Tools for Android SDK Build-tools, Revision 25.0.2 (required).
    15. Click the box under Android 7.1.1 (API 25) for SDK Platform, Revision 3 (optional).
    16. Click the box under Android 7.1.1 (API 25) for Google APIs Intel x86 Atom_64 System Image, Revision 3 (optional).
    17. Click the box under Android 7.0 (API 24) for Documentation for Android SDK, Revision 1 (required).
    18. Click the box under Android 7.0 (API 24) for SDK Platform, Revision 2 (optional).
    19. Click the box under Android 7.0 (API 24) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 7 (optional).
    20. Click the box under Android 6.0 (API 23) for SDK Platform, Revision 3 (optional).
    21. Click the box under Android 6.0 (API 23) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 6 (optional).
    22. Click the box under Android 5.1.1 (API 22) for SDK Platform, Revision 2 (optional).
    23. Click the box under Android 5.1.1 (API 22) for Android Wear ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 7 (optional).
    24. Click the box under Android 5.1.1 (API 22) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 2 (optional).
    25. Click the box under Android 5.0.1 (API 21) for SDK Platform, Revision 2 (optional).
    26. Click the box under Android 5.0.1 (API 21) for Android Wear ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 3 (optional).
    27. Click the box under Android 5.0.1 (API 21) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 4 (optional).
    28. Click the box under Android 4.4W.2 (API 20) for SDK Platform, Revision 2 (optional).
    29. Click the box under Android 4.4W.2 (API 20) for Android Wear ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 4 (optional).
    30. Click the box under Android 4.4.2 (API 19) for SDK Platform, Revision 4 (optional).
    31. Click the box under Android 4.4.2 (API 19) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 5 (optional).
    32. Click the box under Android 4.3.1 (API 18) for SDK Platform, Revision 3 (optional).
    33. Click the box under Android 4.3.1 (API 18) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 4 (optional).
    34. Click the box under Android 4.2.2 (API 17) for SDK Platform, Revision 3 (optional).
    35. Click the box under Android 4.2.2 (API 17) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 5 (optional).
    36. Click the box under Android 4.1.2 (API 16) for SDK Platform, Revision 5 (optional).
    37. Click the box under Android 4.1.2 (API 16) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 4 (optional).
    38. Click the box under Android 4.0.3 (API 15) for SDK Platform, Revision 5 (optional).
    39. Click the box under Android 4.0.3 (API 15) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 4 (optional).
    40. Click the box under Android 2.3.3 (API 10) for SDK Platform, Revision 2 (required).
    41. Click the box under Android 2.3.3 (API 10) for ARM EABI v7a System Image, Revision 4 (optional).
    42. Click the box under Extras for Android Support Repository, Revision 41 (required).
    43. Click the box under Extras for Google USB Driver, Revision 11 (required).
    44. Click Install packages.
    45. Click Accept the USB Driver License Agreement in the Install dialog then click Install.
    46. Verify that the Packages selected appear in the Choose Packages to Install dialog.
    47. Click Install.
    48. Wait for the install in the Installing Archives dialog to complete (this may take over 30 minutes).
    49. Click Close in the Installing Archives dialog.
    50. Click Installed Packages in the Android SDK Manager dialog.
    51. Verify that the Packages are installed.
    52. Click X in the top right corner of the Android SDK Manager dialog.
    53. Click X in the top right corner of the My Computer window.
