GETTING STARTED

Create Android Virtual Device

Note: In the steps below, you select the Basic tab in the Android Tools window then left and right click the boxes. If you so desire, you could also select the Advanced tab then left and right click the boxes and nodes there.
  1. For Android Version 5 and earlier:

    1. Click the Basic tab (default) in the Android Tools window.
    2. Click the Android Target box then click Id 1 Android 2.3.3 API 10 (default) in the popup list.
    3. Click the Android Virtual Device box then click blank in the popup list.
    4. Right click the Android Virtual Device box then click Create in the popup menu.
    5. Type MyAVD1 (default) in the Input dialog then click OK.
    6. Click Yes in the Confirm dialog.
    7. Wait until the Create Android Virtual Device window appears.
    8. Click the Enter field then press the Enter key.
    9. Wait until Created AVD appears in the Create Android Virtual Device window.
    10. Click X in the top right corner of the Create Android Virtual Device window.
    11. Verify that MyAVD1 appears in the Android Virtual Device box in the Android Tools window.
  2. For Android Version 6 and later:

    1. Click the Basic tab in the Android Tools window.
    2. Click the Android Target box then click Id 2 Android 6.0 API 23 in the popup list.
    3. Click the Android Virtual Device box then click blank in the popup list.
    4. Right click the Android Virtual Device box then click Create in the popup menu.
    5. Wait until the Android Virtual Device Manager window appears.
    6. Click the Create button on the right in the Android Virtual Device Manager window.
    7. Wait until the Create New Android Virtual Device window appears.
    8. Click the AVD Name field in the Create New Android Virtual Device window then type MyAVD2.
    9. Click the Device box then click Nexus 5 (4.95", 1080 x 1920: xxhpdi) in the popup menu.
    10. Click the Target box then click Android 6.0 - API Level 23 in the popup menu.
    11. Click the CPU/ABI box then click ARM (armeabi-v7a) in the popup menu.
    12. Click the Keyboard Hardware Keyboard Present box until check disappears.
    13. Click the Skin box then click Skin with dynamic hardware controls in the popup menu.
    14. Click the Memory Options RAM field then type 768.
    15. Click the Memory Options VM Heap field then type 128.
    16. Click the Emulation Options Use Host GPU box until check appears.
    17. Click the OK button on the bottom in the Create New Android Virtual Device window.
    18. Click X on the top in the Android Virtual Device Manager window.
